{"id":391,"date":"2010-02-16T10:04:57","date_gmt":"2010-02-16T08:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dirk.forbiddendream.be\/?p=391"},"modified":"2016-01-07T10:50:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T10:50:18","slug":"exportsqlce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dirk.schuermans.me\/?p=391","title":{"rendered":"ExportSqlCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>Recently I&#8217;ve stumbled upon a small nifty tool, that&#8217;ll allow you to retrieve the database schema of your SQL Compact Edition database ^.^<\/p>\n<p>The tool is relatively easy to work with, provided you have the correct SQLCE runtimes installed..<br \/>\nIn my case (having a x64 system) I had to install the x86 runtime first, and after that the x64 runtime.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, the tool is not made by me, but it&#8217;s made by Erik Ejlskov Jensen.<br \/>\nYou can find his blog <a href=\"http:\/\/erikej.blogspot.com\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The tool can be downloaded <a href=\"http:\/\/exportsqlce.codeplex.com\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s available as an addin for SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (Express) or as a simple CLI<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Using the CLI tool is pretty easy.<br \/>\nJust open up your CMD window, point to the directory where the EXE is located and type, for example, the following:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;ExportSqlCE.exe &#8220;Data Source=<strong>MyDataBaseFile.sdf<\/strong>;&#8221; <strong>MyDataBaseSchema.sql<\/strong>&#8216;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mind you that the &#8220;MyDataBaseFile.sdf&#8221; is the location of where your SDF file is located.
